Welcome to Concrete Tables by Cawley. I’m John the concrete table guy. I’ve been in the masonry business my entire adult life. It’s what I‘ve always wanted to do, since seeing my grandfather pour a beautiful concrete porch. To this day, that concrete has not cracked anywhere.

Over the years, I’ve been fortunate enough to learn all types of masonry including concrete. Concrete is such a versatile material that it can be used for tons of wonderful things including table designs. Interior table designs along with exterior designs can be the focal point of any room. If you want something different, then certainly concrete would be the choice. If you want something that’s long lasting; do I even need to answer?

After doing some searching on the web and finding some cool designs by awesome artist. I noticed that I couldn’t find much with regards to concrete and tables. So I decided to design my own line of concrete table tops with varied bases.  Below I describe how I came upon creating these unique concrete tables and from the thumbnails to the left, you can click to get more information about each creation.

How it happened...

One day I was at my masonry shop and I had a few extra bags of high strength concrete. I decided to build a form that would hold 1.5” of concrete and my steel cage that I built for the concrete top. My first design was an 18”x 30” with blue dye and 1”x 1” tile in a rectangular perimeter shape. Wow! I was hooked from the start.

I made a 4”x 4” cedar base, my wife wanted the table to be a cocktail table (36” in height) so I agreed. I then realized I’m not a carpenter. That was my first and last base I would make for my concrete table tops.

All the bases are hand made from local artist, woodworkers, steel artist, and furniture makers. These are people I hand selected to design and build my bases.

I do believe that my favorite base is the reclaimed wood bases. I’ve hooked up with a local table maker and asked about going green with my tops. He showed me the coolest tables he made using reclaimed wood from wood barns, wood studs in older homes and post from old porches make great legs. So much cool wood out there and people are throwing it away and filling land fills with all this wood. I say let’s put it back to work.

My tables can be indoor coffee tables or outside cocktail tables. Enjoy them on your patio or in your living room. They really do work anywhere in the house. They are strong, sturdy and built to last, the way it’s supposed to be built.

What you’ll see in the gallery pages is that each top is our own personal design. Our Colors range, materials change and designs vary throughout each concrete table top.

But I do believe that I’ve made a concrete table top for everyone to enjoy. Feel free to email about masonry or related thoughts.
